Derek L. Veliz is a partner at the Firm’s Miami office and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2014. Mr. Veliz handles an active litigation practice in the areas of insurance bad faith and insurance coverage defense. Mr. Veliz has experience in defending first and third-party insurance bad faith and insurance coverage action cases in both state and federal courts. Mr. Veliz also has appellate experience and has handled insurance bad faith appeals in Florida’s District Courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal . Mr. Veliz attended the Villanova University School of Law (Juris Doctor, 2013). Mr. Veliz obtained his undergraduate education from Florida International University (Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, 2010). Mr. Veliz is also a member of the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle District of Florida as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Veliz practiced in the areas of Condominium and Landlord/Tenant Litigation and remains an active member of the Belen Alumni Lawyers Association.
